Where to stay in Dubai
Dubai Marina
High-rise waterfront district built around an artificial marina with a long promenade, plenty of restaurants and easy access to the beach and tram. Very popular with expats and young professionals who want a lively, walkable bubble with quick access to Media City and Internet City.
Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT)
Mixed-use community opposite Dubai Marina built around several lakes, with residential towers, offices, gyms and many cafés. Slightly more affordable than the Marina but still very central, with direct metro access and lots of coworking and work-friendly cafes.
Downtown Dubai
Prestige neighbourhood around Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, with luxury towers, fountains and a very central location. Excellent for those who want to be close to high-end offices, dining and entertainment, but prices and traffic are both high.
Business Bay
Dense cluster of offices and residential towers along Dubai Canal, directly next to Downtown. Slightly better value than Downtown with many new apartments, coworking spaces and cafes, plus quick taxi or metro access around the city.
🏛️ Top Attractions
Best things to do in Dubai
Burj Khalifa & Dubai Mall
The world's tallest building and one of the largest malls on the planet. Take the observation deck for skyline and desert views, then work or wander in air-conditioned comfort among hundreds of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Dubai Marina Walk
Pedestrian promenade along the marina lined with cafes, restaurants and towers. Perfect for evening strolls, jogging and people-watching, with plenty of laptop-friendly coffee shops overlooking the water.
JBR & Public Beach
Beachfront strip at Jumeirah Beach Residence with public sandy beach, showers, cafes and a long pedestrian area. A favourite for weekend beach days, casual swims and sundowners after work.
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
Preserved quarter of traditional wind-tower houses and narrow lanes by Dubai Creek. Home to small museums, art galleries and cafes that show a very different side of Dubai before the skyscrapers.
Dubai Creek & Abra Ride
Traditional heart of the city where wooden abras shuttle across the creek between Deira and Bur Dubai. Combine a short boat ride with exploring spice and gold souks for a more old-school Gulf trading vibe.
Museum of the Future
Striking torus-shaped building on Sheikh Zayed Road housing interactive exhibitions about future cities, AI, climate and space. Combines architecture and digital experiences, popular with tech-minded visitors and remote workers.
Desert Safari & Dune Trip
Classic Dubai experience that takes you out of the city for dune bashing, sunset photos, camel rides and a camp dinner under the stars. Very touristy but still a fun contrast to air-conditioned city life.
Dubai Frame
Gigantic gold-coloured frame in Zabeel Park with glass-floored sky bridge that gives views of both old and new Dubai. A good way to visually understand how the city has grown from low-rise creekside districts to a skyline of towers.

💬 What Nomads Say
Real reviews from digital nomads
"Dubai was easily the most productive place I have ever worked from. I stayed in JLT for two months and had 300 Mbps fibre in my apartment plus excellent WiFi in every coworking space and even most cafes. The metro and tram made it easy to move between JLT, Media City and Downtown without driving. It is definitely expensive, but the combination of safety, infrastructure and sunshine made it worth it for a focused winter work sprint."
"I used the virtual work visa and based myself in Dubai Marina for just under a year. The lifestyle is very comfortable if you have a decent income: gym in the building, pool, beach five minutes away and coworking spaces all around. Summer was intense though – from June to September I almost never walked outside during the day and lived between the metro, malls and my apartment. If you are sensitive to heat or on a tight budget, this city will be a challenge."
"Dubai is impressive but it did not fully click for me as a long-term nomad base. I loved the internet speed, safety and the mix of cultures, but I found the city quite spread out and dependent on cars or taxis. Social life tends to revolve around malls and expensive brunches, and I missed more casual street life. Great for a few months of well paid client work and sun, but I will probably choose cheaper, more walkable cities next time."
