Where to stay in Imsouane
The Bay (Magic Bay)
The heart of Imsouane surf culture, located around the famous Magic Bay with its legendary long wave. Most surf camps, cafes, and accommodations are here. Walking distance to the beach and harbor. Busy during surf season with international crowd. Best area for surfers and those wanting to be in the action. Some construction ongoing after 2024 rebuilding.
Cathedral Beach Area
Located near the powerful Cathedral Point break, this area is quieter and preferred by experienced surfers seeking challenging waves. More spread out with fewer amenities but offers peaceful atmosphere and stunning cliff views. Accommodation options tend to be more upscale retreats. Better for those with own transport.
Village Center
The authentic heart of Imsouane village with local shops, the mosque, and traditional Moroccan life. Most affordable area for long-term rentals. Less touristy with genuine local atmosphere. Walking distance to the bay. Some basic amenities and small local restaurants. Best for immersive cultural experience.
Hillside (Upper Village)
Elevated area above the village offering panoramic views of the bay and Atlantic Ocean. Home to several guesthouses with terraces perfect for sunrise and sunset. Quieter than the bay area with cooler breezes. Short walk downhill to beach. Good for those prioritizing views and tranquility over convenience.

💬 What Nomads Say
Real reviews from digital nomads
"Imsouane completely changed my perspective on remote work. I came for two weeks and stayed three months. The cost of living is unbelievably low - I spent around $800/month total including a nice room with ocean view, all meals, and surf board rental. The internet was my main concern but I found a few spots with decent connection around 20-25 Mbps. The community is incredible - surfers, yogis, and remote workers from all over the world. Magic Bay delivers the longest wave I've ever surfed. Yes, it's basic and remote, but that's exactly the point. Perfect for a digital detox while still getting work done."
"Spent a month in Imsouane and it was a beautiful slow travel experience. The village has an authentic charm that's hard to find these days. Locals are genuinely welcoming and the fresh fish from the harbor is amazing. I managed to work okay but had to plan around internet limitations - I downloaded everything I needed and saved uploads for better connection days. The surf culture is dominant so it helps if you're into that. Sunsets from the cliffs are spectacular. Main downsides: you need cash as there are no ATMs, nightlife is basically nonexistent, and getting there requires some planning. Great for a month, might get too quiet for longer."
"I really wanted to love Imsouane but the infrastructure challenges were too much for my work requirements. The internet is genuinely unreliable - video calls would constantly drop and I had to drive to Agadir twice for important meetings. The village is charming and incredibly cheap but it's definitely more suited for creative types with flexible schedules than people with regular calls and deadlines. Also be aware that some areas were demolished in 2024 and rebuilding is ongoing. If you're a surfer with flexible work, it's paradise. If you need reliable connectivity, look elsewhere or come just for vacation."
