Europe
Spain is an EU and Schengen state. Short stays for many nationalities follow the common 90 days in any 180 day Schengen rule. Long stay residence permits are handled through Spanish consulates and the Spanish migration authorities.
Visa requirements vary by nationality

Extension: 24 months (max 4x)

Process: Holders of an initial telework visa who still meet the conditions can usually apply in Spain for a multi year residence authorisation and renew it while conditions remain in place.
Renewal: Residence under the international remote work regime can normally be renewed as long as the applicant continues to meet income, activity and background requirements.
Digital nomad visa holders can opt into Spain's Beckham Law (Ley Beckham / Special Tax Regime for Displaced Workers): flat 24% income tax on Spanish-source income up to โฌ600,000 (47% above that threshold) for 6 years (year of arrival + 5). Foreign-source income is generally exempt. Wealth tax exempt on non-Spanish assets. Must not have been a Spanish tax resident in the previous 5 years.
