Where to Stay in Surat Thani

The heart of Surat Thani where most of the action happens. Home to the famous night market, City Pillar Shrine, and the Tapi River waterfront. This is where you'll find the best concentration of cafes, restaurants, and budget accommodations. The night market offers incredible street food at rock-bottom prices. Most hotels and guesthouses are within walking distance of the bus stations and ferry piers.

A growing residential and commercial district just outside the old city center. This area hosts many of the modern condos, shopping centers including Central Plaza, and newer coffee shops. More spacious and less congested than Talat, it's becoming popular with longer-term residents who want modern amenities while maintaining easy access to the city center.

The scenic riverside district offering a more relaxed atmosphere with views of the Tapi River and Ko Lamphu island. Several guesthouses with river views provide a peaceful alternative to the busy city center. Great for sunset walks and evening dining at riverside restaurants. The floating market and Cross Roads restaurant offer unique local experiences.

Located about 20 minutes from the city center, this area is convenient for early morning flights or late arrivals. The Phunphin area also houses the main train station connecting to Bangkok and other destinations. Several affordable hotels cater to transit travelers. Less touristy and more authentically Thai, though limited in dining and entertainment options.
