  • βœ“Fast, reliable home internet with widespread cable and fibre offerings suitable for heavy remote work
  • βœ“Large international airport with direct connections to Latin America, Europe and across the US
  • βœ“Vibrant mix of cultures (US, Latin American, Caribbean) reflected in food, music and events
  • βœ“Strong coworking ecosystem in Brickell, Downtown, Wynwood and the Design District
  • βœ“No state income tax in Florida, attractive for high-earning remote workers based in the US
  • βœ“Easy access to beaches, Biscayne Bay, the Keys and the Everglades for weekend trips

βœ—Disadvantages

  • βœ—Very high cost of living, especially for rent and eating out in central neighbourhoods
  • βœ—Car-centred city: limited transit coverage means frequent use of Uber, Lyft or a car for many people
  • βœ—Hot, humid and stormy summers with hurricane season from June to November
  • βœ—Tourist-heavy areas like South Beach can feel crowded, expensive and party-focused
  • βœ—Healthcare is excellent but extremely expensive without good insurance
  • βœ—Noise, traffic and safety concerns in some areas, especially late at night

πŸ’¬ What Nomads Say

Real reviews from digital nomads

Jordan F.
Product Designer β€’ 3 months
⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I used Miami as a winter base for three months in Brickell and it worked well overall. Internet at home was 300+ Mbps and coworking at a space in Brickell was excellent. The downside is the cost – I was paying over $3,000 for a one-bedroom, plus expensive eating out. If you earn good USD and want warmth, beaches and nightlife without leaving the US, it is hard to beat."

⭐⭐⭐

"Miami is fun but not cheap. I stayed in Little Havana and used coworking in Wynwood and Midtown. Costs were still high compared to Mexico or Colombia, but the mix of Latin culture and US infrastructure was great. I would not choose it as a long-term nomad base, but for one or two months in winter it is perfect."

⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I spent six weeks in Miami Beach and then Brickell. South Beach was too touristy and party-heavy for everyday work, but Brickell felt like a compact, walkable urban bubble with gyms, cafΓ©s and coworking all nearby. Expect to rely on Uber if you explore beyond your neighbourhood and definitely budget more than you would for similar comfort in Europe or Latin America."
