One of Bali most famous and photographed temples, perched dramatically on a rock formation in the sea about 30 minutes north of Canggu. Built in 16th century and dedicated to Balinese sea gods as one of seven sea temples dotting southwestern Bali coast. Name means 'Land in the Sea' - perfectly describes the stunning offshore setting. At low tide you can walk across to the temple and receive a blessing for small donation (cannot enter as tourist). Sunset views are spectacular when temple becomes beautiful silhouette against golden sky, though expect crowds. Freshwater spring at base believed to have healing properties. Entrance fee 60,000 IDR. Area has become somewhat over-commercialized with tourist traps and sellers, but still worth visiting for the iconic views.

Canggu is one of best places in the world to learn surfing with gentle waves perfect for beginners at Batu Bolong Beach. Dozens of surf schools operate daily with lessons costing around 350k IDR ($22) for 2 hours including board and instructor. Highly recommended schools include Kima Surf (also has yoga and coworking), Tropicsurf, and Surf Well Bali (includes free hotel pickup). Board rental only is much cheaper at 50k IDR for 2 hours if you want to practice on your own. Surf season runs May-September but surfing possible year-round. Berawa Beach is second most popular spot for beginners. Intermediate and advanced surfers should head to Echo Beach for more challenging waves. Group lessons available and often discounted for multiple people.

Part of larger FINNS Recreation Club complex which includes waterpark with waterslides and lazy river (family-friendly), gym, tennis courts, bowling, and trampolining. Day pass to beach club typically starts around $30-50 depending on day and season - often redeemable against food and drinks. Perfect for those wanting resort-style day without staying at resort. Gets busy on weekends and holidays so arrive early for good daybed. Atlas Beach Fest nearby is even larger beach club if you want mega-party vibes. Dress code applies - no singlets for men, smart casual.

While Ubud is famous for sprawling rice terraces, Canggu offers its own lush green rice paddies providing peaceful escape from bustling cafes and beach clubs. Free to explore - just wander the paths between fields. Best areas include paths near Pererenan, behind Deus Ex Machina, and around Black Sand Brewery which has great rice field views while you enjoy craft beer. Early morning or late afternoon golden hour provides best light for photography. Many cafes like Amolas offer rice paddy views while you work. Perfect for jogging, cycling, or simply walking to clear your head. Traditional Balinese farmers still work these fields - be respectful and stay on paths. Combine with visit to local warung for authentic experience.

Every Sunday, the stunning La Brisa beach club and restaurant at Echo Beach opens for farmers market supporting local farmers, suppliers, and small Balinese businesses. Dozens of stalls sell organic produce, artisan foods, handmade jewelry, upcycled fashion, home decor, and sustainable products. La Brisa itself is architecturally stunning - built from reclaimed fishing boats and driftwood creating rustic-chic atmosphere. Browse the market then stay for brunch or sunset drinks at the restaurant overlooking the ocean. Great place to meet other expats and nomads. Runs morning until early afternoon. Free entry to market area. One of best weekly community events in Canggu.
